Founders Society & Planned Giving

As a Partner at Edwards Angel Palmer & Dodge, specializing in estate and land conservation planning, it was not a difficult decision for Max Kohlenberg to include Community Prep in his own estate plans.

“Of the many charities that I give to, Community Prep continues to stand out — every year I can see and hear the results in the accomplishments and voices of the students. I want to make sure that Community Prep is fiscally strong throughout my lifetime and then some. On my way out the door, I want to reaffirm what it was that I cared about. If you are thinking about leaving Community Prep in your estate plans, I assure you, it is a great investment in our future.”

The Founders Society was established to honor individuals who have included Community Preparatory School in their estate plans. Individuals who have designated the school in their wills or have made gifts through charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, life insurance or other gifts of property are invited to join as members. These gifts will help to build a permanent endowment at Community Prep.

Joining the Founders Society is easy. It is a matter of advising the Development Office of the creation of your estate gift. We also encourage documentation of the gift, and if desired, the gift could remain anonymous.

Community Prep can help you take advantage of important personal and family financial and estate-planning benefits. There are many incentives for charitable giving offered under current tax laws. It is entirely possible for you to make a generous gift to Community Prep and obtain significant financial and estate planning benefits for you and your family.

These incentives can help you:

• bypass capital gains taxes;

 • increase current income;

• increase current income tax deductions;

• increase gift and estate tax deductions;

• conserve estate assets for heirs
-- even in some cases pass on a larger estate.

You can obtain these benefits by giving a variety of assets
– For example:

• Gift of securities;

• Charitable Gift Annuities;

• Trusts;

• Retirement Assets;

• Personal Property;

• Life Insurance.
