5: Application Deadline - First Round
16: Visit & Testing Deadline - First Round
ㄴ Candidates who have completed the application process by this date will be considered in the first round of decisions. Admission decisions are made by the Director of Admissions, Director of Education, Admissions Coordinator, and faculty members.
March 18 - Admission decisions are made
Families who met the Feb. 16 deadline are notified. The possible admission decisions are:
Accepted ─ The Student Selection Committee decides that the applicant and Community Prep are a good match. The applicant will be offered a space and, if applicable, a financial aid package.
Not Accepted ─ The Admission Committee decides that the applicant and Community Prep are not a good match at this time.
Waitlisted ─ The candidate meets the admission criteria, but not enough spaces are available. He or she will be put into a waiting pool in no particular order.
April 15 - Enrollment deadline
Applicants accepted on March 18 must enroll by this date. At this time, if spaces are still available, the Student Selection Committee will begin the second round of admission decisions. Applicants who were waitlisted during the first round will be reviewed. The committee may consider new applicants as well.
May 13 - All candidates notified
All candidates will be notified by this date. If a space becomes available for candidates who have been placed on the waiting list before the beginning of the new school year, the Student Selection Committee will consider all of the students in this pool, as well as new applicants.
September 20 - Applications open
If no spaces become available before the beginning of school, waitlisted applicants are welcome to reapply in the fall for the following year. The process is the same for students who are reapplying as for those who are applying for the first time.
We use Blackbaud Admissions software to guide families through the admissions process.
To apply, you will first create your online account.
Then, you will enter our admissions portal and choose the application form you need.
Parent completes the online Application Form and submits it to Community Preparatory School through our Blackbaud Admissions Portal along with the $30.00 application fee.
The application fee for free/reduced lunch eligible students is $10.00
The Blackbaud Admissions Checklist opens inside the portal to show you the order of steps that will guide you through your admissions process.
Inside the checklist portal:
a. Parent signs and submits the online Authorization for Release of Information Form
Note: Parents are responsible for ensuring that Community Prep
receives applicant records
b. Community Prep uses the signed Authorization for Release Form to request the applicant’s Official School Transcript, Attendance Records, and Standardized Test Scores from the applicant’s school.
c. Parent emails the Teacher Recommendation Form to the applicant’s teacher(s).
The teacher completes then emails the form directly to Community Prep.
Once the application and forms are submitted, the admissions office will be in touch with the testing dates. The applicant comes to Community Prep to take the admissions test, on the Community Prep scheduled testing date.
We test using the Renaissance Star Reading and Star Math Assessments. These tests must be taken at Community Prep. Testing data from other schools may not be used.
The Admissions Office contacts the family to schedule an applicant visit to Community Prep. We must have the applicant's records and teacher recommendations on file before the applicant visits the school.
The applicant will shadow a Community Prep student during their visit.
You will be able to follow along your admissions progress through looking at your checklist. The Admissions Office will also send out email checklist notifications to keep you updated throughout each step of the admissions process.
