Students, faculty, staff, trustees, campaign committee members, and supporters of Community Prep were in attendance for the ceremony. Several of Providence's prominent figures also joined the festivities: Gov. Dan McKee, Councilwoman Mary Kay Harris, and Providence Friars Men's Basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley, who is the honorary chair of the capital campaign.
In speaking on the significance of the construction of the Arts & Athletic Center, Cooley said, "We need to continue to support projects like this in our community. I am here as a dreamer and a believer. Education was the most important part of me being here today. Keep dreaming and believing."
The Arts & Athletic Center is on track for completion by November 2024.
