We are proud to share that one of two teams in Community Prep’s Investment Club earned first place in the Rhode Island Middle School Division of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation’s national Stock Market Game. The Stock Market Game is a year-long financial education competition that challenges students to manage a simulated $100,000 investment portfolio.
Since the start of the school year, our Investment Club members have participated in this hands-on learning experience, developing skills in research, financial literacy, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Competing against schools across the state, one of our two teams emerged at the top of the leaderboard thanks to their thoughtful decision-making and collaborative efforts.
This game prepared students for real-world investing, culminating in a session with Tim Vanech—Co-founder of Shorepoint Capital and longtime CP supporter—who helped guide their annual portfolio decisions. With input from Mr. Vanech and Interim Head of School Dan Corley, students sold 16 shares of Nvidia and 7 of IBM to convert 4% of their Schwab portfolio into cash, applying the very skills they built all year.
