Read to Succeed Inspires Another Strong Summer of Reading

Community Prep is proud to partner with Read to Succeed, an initiative created by Barbara Papitto to keep Providence students reading and learning over the summer. This year, 136 Community Prep students completed the Read to Succeed challenge—reading six books and passing the corresponding online comprehension tests. Each student earned a $1,000 scholarship in a Read to Succeed–sponsored Rhode Island CollegeBound Saver account.

Read to Succeed helps prevent summer learning loss by providing students with a set of books and requiring online quizzes through the Accelerated Reader Program. This structure keeps students engaged, strengthens comprehension, and encourages consistent reading habits.

Through continued participation, Community Prep students can earn up to $5,000 in scholarship funds over their years at the school, building momentum toward future academic success.

We’re incredibly proud of our students’ dedication and grateful for Barbara Papitto and the Read to Succeed partnership that keeps our readers motivated throughout the summer.
