Community Preparatory School’s Cross Country team competed in five meets this season, but one moment stood out above the rest. At the Friends Academy Invitational in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, our 7th- and 8th-grade runners faced their longest and toughest course yet: 2.4 miles of hills and hard work.
As the team waited at the finish line, they noticed their teammate Esmé—one of the team captains and a first-year runner—pushing through the final stretch, clearly giving it everything she had.
Without hesitation, and without anyone saying a word, the entire team took off running beside her, cheering her on all the way to the finish.
It was an incredible act of compassion and unity—one that moved everyone watching. Spectators shared how inspired they were by our runners’ sportsmanship and support for one another. Esmé crossed that finish line surrounded by her teammates, a true reflection of what it means to be a Community Prep Cougar.
