Alum Spotlight: Gazmine "GG" Mason, Class of 2009

Community Preparatory School alumna Gazmine “GG” Mason, Class of 2009, continues to make an extraordinary impact both on and off the lanes. An NCAA National Champion and professional bowler, Gazmine has earned four gold medals and two world championship titles while competing for Team USA, establishing herself as one of the sport’s most accomplished athletes.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Gazmine broke barriers as the first Black woman to compete for Nebraska’s women’s bowling team and the first to earn Bowling All-American honors at the university. Her achievements reflect not only her talent, but also her dedication, resilience, and drive to excel at the highest level.

Reflecting on her time at Community Prep, Gazmine shares, “Community Prep has played a major role in shaping who I am today. It taught me discipline, accountability, and the importance of showing up and putting in the work, even when things get challenging. The environment pushed me to stay focused on my goals while also building confidence in myself and my abilities. Most importantly, CP has instilled in me the value of support and representing something bigger than myself, which continues to guide the work I do today.”

Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Gazmine is deeply committed to empowering others. She founded initiatives such as Black Girls Can Bowl 2 and the Gazmine Mason Foundation, both of which support women of color and under-resourced youth through education, mentorship, and sport. Through the Gazmine Mason Foundation, she works to promote education, health, and nutrition while creating opportunities for young people to grow through bowling.

Gazmine’s journey is a powerful example of what it means to lead with purpose, break barriers, and give back. Community Prep is proud to celebrate her continued success and the impact she is making in communities across the country.
